Biosphere Fundamentals and Biological Cycles

Understanding how life on Earth is sustained requires a clear grasp of the biosphere and its interconnected systems. This course introduces the fundamental scientific principles governing our planet's living environment. You will start by learning key terminology, foundational definitions, and the physical boundaries that define the biosphere across the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere. From there, you will examine critical biological and biogeochemical cycles that regulate life, including carbon and nutrient flows, and evaluate how modern human activity impacts these delicate natural systems. What you'll learn: - Understand foundational ecological terminology and the defined boundaries of the biosphere. - Explore the interactions between living organisms and physical earth systems. - Examine major biological and biogeochemical cycles essential to maintaining life. - Analyze the influence of human activity on natural biological loops and global balance. - Apply core ecological concepts to assess current environmental and sustainability topics. This written course guides you step by step from core concepts to a clear understanding of global biological processes. It is designed for complete beginners with no prior background in environmental science. Start reading today to gain a solid scientific foundation in biosphere dynamics.
