Foundations of Glaucoma Diagnosis and Management

Glaucoma is a leading cause of irreversible vision loss. Sound clinical practice rests on understanding the pathophysiology, structured diagnostic approaches, and the staged framework for medical, laser, and surgical management. This foundational course provides that base. By the end of this course you will be able to describe the pathophysiology of common glaucoma forms, recognize the structure of glaucoma assessment, identify the principles of staged management, and understand the role of imaging and functional testing. What you will learn: - The pathophysiology of primary open-angle glaucoma and angle-closure forms - The role of intraocular pressure in glaucoma reasoning - The principles of optic nerve assessment including disc examination - The principles of visual field testing and structured interpretation - The principles of OCT imaging in glaucoma diagnosis and monitoring - The staged management framework across medical, laser, and surgical options - The principles of patient education for chronic adherence The course uses readings, condition summaries, case examples, and reflection questions.
