Applied Early Childhood Social Skills: Group Settings, Special Situations, and the Long Arc

Applied social skills support extends into group settings, navigates special situations, and continues into early elementary years. This applied course teaches that integration through case-based modules. By the end of this course you will be able to support social skills in group settings, navigate special situations that affect social life, adapt approaches as your child grows, and sustain social support across the long arc of childhood. What you will learn: - Approaches to social support in preschool and early elementary classrooms - Approaches to special situations including a new sibling, move, or family change - Approaches to handling social differences and recognizing when evaluation may be useful - Approaches to supporting shyness, intensity, and other temperament patterns - Approaches to coordinating with teachers and caregivers on social goals - Approaches to handling the parent's own social anxiety about the child - Approaches to sustaining social support across years The course is structured around six applied modules. Each produces a written artifact: a group setting support plan, a special situations plan, a differences reflection, a temperament approach, a caregiver coordination plan, and a long-term reflection. This course is written for parents thinking across the long arc of social development. By the end you will have moved from anxious watching to a sustained, deliberate approach to your child's social growth.
