Applied Pediatric Preventive Care: Across Ages, Special Situations, and Adolescent Transitions

Applied pediatric preventive care adapts to ages, supports children with chronic conditions, and includes the transition to adolescent and young adult care. This applied course teaches integrated reasoning through case-based modules. By the end of this course you will be able to adapt preventive care across ages, navigate special situations including chronic conditions, support the adolescent transition into self-managed care, and coordinate with schools and other systems. What you will learn: - Approaches to preventive care across infants, toddlers, school-age, and teen years - Approaches to children with chronic conditions including how preventive care adapts - Approaches to mental health screening across childhood and adolescence - Approaches to school health requirements and forms - Approaches to supporting teens in taking ownership of their preventive care - Approaches to the transition to adolescent and young adult medicine - Approaches to handling specific concerns including obesity, mental health, and reproductive health in age-appropriate ways The course is structured around six applied modules. Each produces a written artifact: a developmental preventive care plan, a chronic condition plan, a mental health screening reflection, a school coordination plan, a teen transition plan, and a long-term reflection.
