Foundations of Sensory Processing and Family Life

By the end of this course you will be able to describe the principles of sensory processing, recognize common patterns including over and under responsiveness, identify the role of sensory-friendly environments, and understand the role of occupational therapy support. What you will learn: - The principles of sensory processing across vision, hearing, touch, movement, and interoception - Common patterns of over-responsiveness, under-responsiveness, and sensory seeking - The role of sensory-friendly environment design at home - The role of routine and predictability in supporting regulation - The role of occupational therapy and sensory integration approaches - The role of school-based and community-based supports - The signs that suggest professional evaluation may be warranted The course uses readings, case examples, and reflection prompts. Each module ends with applied exercises. This course is written for parents and caregivers of children with sensory processing differences. By the end you will have replaced confusion about behavior with a clearer understanding of sensory differences and the supports that help.
