About this course
Trend indicators used in isolation — a single moving average crossover as a buy signal, or a MACD crossover without trend context — tend to produce mixed results because they each capture one dimension of a multi-dimensional situation. A disciplined trend-following framework uses multiple indicators to confirm different aspects of the same question: Is there a trend? How strong is it? Is it still intact? This course develops that kind of structured, multi-indicator approach.
By the end of this course you will be able to construct and apply a multi-indicator trend qualification framework that uses ADX for strength, moving average structure for direction, and MACD for momentum phase, evaluate when trend conditions are favorable or unfavorable for trend-following logic, and build a systematic setup evaluation process that documents trend quality before any other signal is considered.
What you will learn:
- Trend qualification framework: using ADX, MA structure, and MACD in combination to assess trend quality
- Trend strength thresholds: how to define strong, moderate, and weak trend conditions for your framework
- Entry refinement with MA support: identifying pullbacks to a moving average in a confirmed trend
- MACD momentum phase in trend context: using histogram behavior to assess whether momentum supports the trend thesis
- Parabolic SAR as a trailing context indicator: how SAR position relative to price confirms or questions trend direction
- Ranging market filters: how to identify when indicators are producing noise rather than signal in a non-trending environment
- Consistency across instruments: applying the same trend qualification process to equities, commodities, and currency pairs
- Framework review: evaluating a batch of trend qualification assessments to identify where the framework is reliable and where it struggles
The course is organized around extended multi-indicator setup evaluation exercises. For each fictional scenario, you complete a trend qualification worksheet that applies the full framework, produce a summary judgment on trend quality, and compare your assessment to the annotated review. A final self-assessment exercise reviews your completed evaluations to identify systematic strengths and gaps.
This course is designed for technically literate traders who use trend indicators regularly and want to develop a more rigorous, systematic approach, as well as for intermediate technical analysis students building a coherent multi-indicator process. This course is informational and educational; it does not constitute trading or investment advice, and past indicator behavior does not guarantee future market conditions.
