Being a first-time mum, I'd read so many conflicting things online that I was more anxious than informed. This pulled everything into one clear, evidence-based place, feeding, sleep, soothing, and the safety stuff you're too scared to get wrong. I liked that it's honest about how hard the first weeks are but keeps it manageable with simple routines. The safe sleep section in particular I went back to a few times. By week two I finally felt like I knew what I was doing instead of guessing constantly.

Genuinely helpful for the newborn stage, though it stays fairly general in places.

A reassuring, well-structured intro, just don't expect it to go super deep on any single topic.

Overall a really solid grounding for new parents, and it hits the big three, feeding, sleep and safety, in a way that's easy to absorb when you're exhausted. The safe sleep guidance was clear and I feel much more confident putting our son down now. The soothing techniques worked more often than not. My one real criticism is that it's a bit light on what to do when things don't go to plan, like feeding difficulties or a baby who just won't settle, so I still ended up looking a few things up. Still, as a foundation it did its job well.

Really reassuring guide for the first three months, especially the parts on soothing and safe sleep. It explains things simply without being condescending. I did wish it covered a bit more on breastfeeding troubleshooting.

We went through this a few weeks before our due date and I'm so glad we did. The feeding and sleep sections took a lot of the guesswork out, and the safe sleep guidance especially gave us peace of mind at 3am. It's calm and clear without drowning you in scary what-ifs. When our daughter arrived we actually felt like we had a plan for the basics instead of frantically searching our phones. My partner, who was terrified of even holding a newborn, came away genuinely more confident.

The section on establishing a simple sleep rhythm was exactly what we needed. Our nights are still hard but we're no longer completely lost. Everything is explained calmly, which matters a lot when you're running on no sleep.
