About this course

Every cryptocurrency transaction is recorded permanently on a public ledger. This means that, unlike equity or foreign exchange markets where order flow is opaque, blockchain markets expose a rich layer of information about who is holding, who is moving coins, and in what quantities. On-chain analysis is the discipline of extracting meaningful signal from this data — but it requires a clear mental model of what each metric measures, what drives it, and where its interpretive limits are. By the end of this course you will be able to explain how blockchain data is structured and why different metrics measure different aspects of network activity, describe the difference between on-chain and off-chain data and why the distinction matters for interpretation, understand the key on-chain metrics used in crypto market analysis including SOPR, MVRV, NVT, and exchange flow, identify common misinterpretations of on-chain data and the conditions that cause them, and evaluate a network health snapshot using a structured set of metrics. What you will learn: - Blockchain data structure: UTXO vs. account-based models, what each transaction record contains - Wallet types and behaviour patterns: exchange wallets, miner wallets, long-term holder wallets, and how to distinguish them - SOPR (Spent Output Profit Ratio): what it measures, how to interpret values above and below one - MVRV (Market Value to Realised Value): the economic meaning of the ratio and its historical context at market extremes - NVT (Network Value to Transaction volume): the on-chain equivalent of a P/E ratio and its limitations - Exchange inflow and outflow: what large movements to and from exchanges signal and when they are misleading - Miner behaviour metrics: hash rate, miner reserves, and their relationship to potential selling pressure - Data source considerations: the differences between on-chain analytics platforms and what affects their metric calculations The course is structured as conceptual readings progressing from blockchain data fundamentals through individual metric explanations to integrated network health assessment. Worked examples use real historical scenarios to illustrate each metric's behaviour. Self-assessment exercises close each module. This course is designed for cryptocurrency analysts, researchers, and investors who want a rigorous foundation in on-chain analysis. No prior background in blockchain technology or data analysis is required. This course is informational and educational and does not constitute financial or investment advice.
